Weather Alert: Flood advisory issued for multiple counties

The National Weather Service in Wilmington, OH has issued a flood advisory for Darke, Logan, Miami, Preble, and Shelby counties in Ohio.

The NWS in Wilmington, OH says “* Flood Advisory for… Southern Shelby County in west central Ohio… Northeastern Preble County in west central Ohio… Northwestern Champaign County in west central Ohio… Southwestern Logan County in west central Ohio… Southeastern Darke County in west central Ohio… Miami County in west central Ohio… * Until 115 AM EST. * At 909 PM EST, radar indicated an area of prolonged moderate rainfall extending from east of Eldorado extending north to Arcanum and then northeast through Piqua and Troy to Sidney and Bellefontaine. Rainfall is estimated to be over an inch in this area so far this evening, and moderate rainfall is expected to continue for the next few hours. * Minor flooding of low-lying and poorly drained streets, highways and underpasses will occur. In addition, farmland near creeks, streams and drainage ditches will experience minor flooding. Some locations that will experience minor flooding include… Troy, Sidney, Piqua, Bellefontaine, Tipp City, West Milton, Covington, Arcanum, St. Paris, Bradford, Lewisburg, West Liberty, De Graff, Pleasant Hill, Hardin, Quincy, Christiansburg, Gettysburg, Eldorado and Verona. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS… Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
