Weather Alert – Wind Advisory – Monday, December 31, 2018

The National Weather Service has allowed this alert to expire.

Concerning majority of the area, the NWS in Wilmington, OH says “352 AM EST Mon Dec 31 2018 …WIND ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 3 PM THIS AFTERNOON TO 2 AM EST TUESDAY… The National Weather Service in Wilmington has issued a Wind Advisory, which is in effect from 3 PM this afternoon to 2 AM EST Tuesday. * WINDS…South winds this afternoon will become westerly tonight. Winds will be 15 to 30 mph with gusts upwards of 50 mph. * TIMING…late this afternoon and into tonight. * IMPACTS…Scattered tree and power line damage is possible along with some minor property damage in the highest gusts. Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS… Secure loose outdoor objects. Drivers of high-profile vehicles or trailers should exercise caution. The wind and wind gusts will make difficult driving conditions. &&”

Concerning Randolph County in Indiana, the NWS in Indianapolis, IN says “943 AM EST Mon Dec 31 2018 …WIND ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 3 PM THIS AFTERNOON TO MIDNIGHT EST TONIGHT… * TIMING…Mid Afternoon through This Evening * WINDS…Gusts of 40 to 45 MPH possible with locally higher winds * IMPACTS…High profile vehicles may experience difficult driving conditions. Outdoor items that are not secured may be easily blown about. Scattered power outages may occur. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS… A Wind Advisory means that sustained winds of 30 mph or wind gusts of 45 mph are expected. Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Use extra caution. &&”

HAZARDOUS WEATHER… * A brief period of southwest winds between 25 and 35 mph with gusts to 45 mph are expected this evening. IMPACTS… * High profile vehicles may encounter difficulty due to the higher wind gusts. Loose objects will be blown around. Small trees and tree limbs may be knocked down. * Some power outages are possible. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS… A Wind Advisory means that sustained winds of 30 mph or gusts of 45 mph are expected.
