Heat Index As of Sunday, September 8, 2019

As we head into the new work week. Heat index values reach the mid to upper 90s. Remember the heat index is what it feels like to the body. It’s not the actual air temperature.

Actual air temperatures will be in the 80s tomorrow and could reach the lower 90s Tuesday through Friday. So, heat indices will be in the low to mid 80s tomorrow. The low to mid 90s on Tuesday. Then the upper 90s on Wednesday. Heat indices will begin to slowly drop after Wednesday, but. Heat index values could still be in the 90s until Friday.

So why do we report on the heat index values? Since heat index values is how hot it feels to the body. That’s the temperature your body will react to. Not the actual air temperature. Just like the wind chill in the winter.

Remember to take frequent breaks, wear loose clothing, and wear light colored clothes. Also, avoid strenuous outdoor activities.
