‘Medicane’, tropical cyclone like weather is expected to hit Egypt and Israel on Saturday

Last Updated

The Met Office in the UK says they are monitoring a potential ’Medicane.’ This tweet from yesterday afternoon says that “it is incredibly rare this far east in the Mediterranean.”

This is not a tropical cyclone but a low will bring tropical cyclone like weather to Egypt and Israel late Friday into Saturday in that part of the world. The word ‘Medicane’ comes from a tropical cyclone like system in the Mediterranean Sea.

The storm could bring heavy rain, strong winds, and some flooding to Egypt and Israel. Jordan may also see some small impacts from this ‘medicane.’
