Hello everyone, I’m Devontae Jackson!
I am the founder and lead weather forecaster for The Greater Dayton Weather Post! My goal for this website is for it become another reliable source of weather information for the Greater Dayton area and surrounding communities. I go to David H. Ponitz Career Technology Center (high school) in Dayton, Ohio where I am a senior. I am in the Radio and Television program at my school. I am also the student station manager for 89.5 FM WDPS, a jazz format station. You can also here my weather forecasts on WDPS-FM. Over the summer of 2018, I was selected to go to Princeton Univerisity to study journalism at The Princeton University Summer Journalism Program. When I graduate from high school I want to pursue a bachelors degree in meteorology.
So, why the weather you may ask
I have always had this slight interest in the weather since I was a kid. My interest in the weather got accelerated by different weather events. Weather events such as the tornado outbreaks of 1974 and 2011, hurricane Katrina, Andrew, and many more hurricanes, and the blizzards of 1978 and 2011, just to name a few. Also, the power of severe weather is really fascinating to me. To watch a storm develop from nothing to this major weather event leaves me even more inspired to forecast the weather than I was before it happened.
I would like to personally thank you for visiting my website and I hope you find it useful during times of severe weather and dangerous winter weather. Or, whenever you need to take a look at the weather forecast. If you don’t live in the county coverage area, which you can see on the about page. I hope you enjoy the content that is published!
