The latest update from the Japan Meteorological Agency, says the typhoon is moving northwestward now and very slowly. Steady to heavy bands of rain continue to affect parts of the eastern Philippines.

Sustained winds are up to 132 mph with wind gusts up to 190 mph. So the storm remains a violent typhoon. The storm is forecast to continue to move towards the southern islands of Japan. However, the storm is expected to make a right turn into the Pacific Ocean and not make a direct hit to any of the islands. The storm is also forecast to weaken over time.
