Meet hurricane Iota, forecast again to become a major hurricane

The NHC says hurricane Iota has formed in the Caribbean Sea. The NHC says, “…RECONNAISSANCE AIRCRAFT FINDS IOTA HAS STRENGTHENED INTO THE
THIRTEENTH HURRICANE OF THE 2020 ATLANTIC HURRICANE SEASON…
…IOTA EXPECTED TO RAPIDLY STRENGTHEN INTO A MAJOR HURRICANE AS
APPROACHES CENTRAL AMERICA….”

As of the 1 AM advisory the storm is moving W at 5 mph. Sustained winds of 75 mph and pressure is down to 989 MB.

The storm is forecast become a major hurricane as it head towards Central America. Heavy rain, strong winds, and dangerous storm surge expected in Nicaragua and Honduras. Anyone in these areas should listen to local officials and evacuate when told so.
