Flood warning for Jay County until 3:30 PM 1-1-19

The National Weather Service has allowed this alert to expire.

The National Weather Service In Northern Indiana has issued a flood warning for Jay County.

The NWS in Northern Indiana says “317 AM EST TUE JAN 1 2019 The National Weather Service in Northern Indiana has extended the * Flood Warning for… Northeastern Blackford County in east central Indiana… Central Jay County in east central Indiana… * Until 330 PM EST Tuesday. * At 308 AM EST, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges heavy rain had fallen yesterday and was causing flooding on the Salamonie River across Jay County into northeast Blackford County. Over one inch of rain has already fallen. The Salamonie River was near crest just above 13 feet at Portland. The River is expected to cause flooding through much of today; therefore, the flood warning for this area has been extended into mid afternoon today. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS… Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. &&”
