The National Weather Service in Northern Indiana has issued a winter storm warning. This winter storm warning has been issued for Jay County in Indiana.
The NWS in Northern Indiana says “956 AM EST Sat Jan 19 2019 …WINTER STORM WARNING NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 4 AM EST SUNDAY… * WHAT…Moderate to heavy snow expected along with gusty northeast winds and significant blowing and drifting snow. Storm total snow accumulations of 5 to 8 inches expected, with locally higher amounts possible. Some freezing rain possible through this afternoon with ice accumulations up to one tenth of an inch possible. Northeast winds may gust as high as 35 to 40 mph later this afternoon into tonight. * WHERE…Portions of northern Indiana and northwest Ohio. * WHEN…Until 4 AM EST Sunday. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS…Travel will likely become difficult. Strong winds will result in blowing and drifting snow and reduced visibilities. Visibilities may approach zero at times this evening due to the combination of snow and very strong winds. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS… A Winter Storm Warning for snow means severe winter weather conditions will make travel very hazardous or impossible.
