Winter storm warning issued for the Dayton metro area

Winter Weather Alerts (1-18-19)

The National Weather Service has allowed this alert to expire.

The National Weather Service in Wilmington, OH has issued a winter storm warning. This winter storm warning has been issued for Butler, Clinton, Greene, Montgomery, Preble, and Warren counties in Ohio. Also for Union County in Indiana.

The NWS in Wilmington, OH says “1133 AM EST Sat Jan 19 2019 …WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 4 AM EST SUNDAY… * WHAT…Heavy mixed precipitation expected, especially later this afternoon into the evening, with the potential for heavy snow by late this evening. Total snow accumulations of 5 to 7 inches and ice accumulations of around one tenth of an inch expected. Winds gusting as high as 45 mph. * WHERE…Portions of East Central and Southeast Indiana and Central, Southwest and West Central Ohio. * WHEN…Until 4 AM EST Sunday. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS…Travel could be very difficult, especially by early evening. Widespread blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS… A Winter Storm Warning means significant amounts of snow, sleet and ice will make travel very hazardous or impossible.
