The JMA this morning says a 7.2 magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of the Miyagi Prefecture in Japan. The earthquake was about 60 km deep.
The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center says there is no threat to the U.S. Tsunami advisories were in effect for Japan but have since been canceled.
Here is a look at the earthquake. The Japan Times reports many homes are without power in Miyagi Prefecture but no damage has been reported by firefighters at the moment. However, they are still gathering data. A crisis management center has also been set up. The earthquake was even felt all the way down the coast in Tokyo.
