As of the latest update, the JMA says, Surigae is still a strong typhoon moving northeast at about 10 mph. Above is a look at Surigae as the sun comes up over the west Pacific. The storm still has sustained winds near 90 mph with gusts up to 121 mph.
The storm is expected to continue to weaken as it moves more over the Pacific Ocean. Again the storm now is a strong typhoon still but will weaken to a regular low-pressure system by next week.
