Frigid air makes its way south tonight and into Monday

Frigid Air Expected – 9 AM Sunday, January 20, 2019

Very cold air will move into the area tonight into Monday. This will be a concern for two reasons. One, the cold air will help freeze any precipitation that’s on the ground from the ongoing winter storm. Two, the cold temperatures combined with the winds tomorrow and Monday will cause wind chill values to dip below zero.

Temperature Trend (Dayton, OH) For Sunday, January 20, 2019

Temperatures starting at midnight tomorrow will be in the 20s with wind chill values in the single digits. As we head through the overnight temperatures will continue to fall with wind chill values falling below zero. Around noon tomorrow wind chill values could be 8 below zero. Here in the Dayton area, I don’t expect for actual temperatures to fall below zero.

Even Colder Air Expected Monday – 8 AM Monday, January 21, 2019

Even colder air is expected to arrive overnight Sunday into Monday morning. Temperatures in some places could be as much as 9 below zero. Wind chill values could be around 15 below zero.
