However, more snow will move into the area later this afternoon and into the evening. As we head towards 1 PM and 2 PM snow will move back into the area and when it does snow will be steady to heavy at times. As we approach the evening rush hour I will say that it will not be a good time to be on the roads. We will have not only steady to heavy snow but blowing snow as well. This will no doubt reduce visibilities. Snow will continue through the evening and winds will pick up as we head through the evening as well. This could create dangerous conditions to be in, especially if you are driving. Now, a blizzard is not expected but near-blizzard conditions are possible at times. For a blizzard, you need winds to be sustained at 35 mph or over, visibilities down to 1/4 of a mile, and for all of this to occur for at least 3 hours. So, again, that won’t happen but there will be times that conditions could be near-blizzard-like. Snow will continue into Tuesday morning but should taper off as we head into Tuesday afternoon.
Here is a look at wind gusts this evening, winds could gust between 30 and 40 mph at times tonight. The gusty winds will continue late tongiht into the morning hours of Tuesday before dying down some.
Some freezing rain and sleet have been mixing in this evening but will eventually change to snow.
Here is a look at the snow chance through today. After noon the snow chance is virtually likely for the next 16 hours or so.
Here is a look at potential snow accumulation from this system. Most of us will see 6 to 9 inches of snow. Some of us could see up to 10 and 12 inches of snow. Some of us, back down towards the southeastern part of the Miami Valley could see some lesser snow accumulations. Especially where the chance for ice is concerned.
So again, travel conditions will deteriorate as we head into the afternoon and evening.
